Getting Dressed: Red and Blue and Dotted All Over

I am now doing variations on the teal-and-red theme without even realizing it.  I had yet to wear this blue necklace before today (I am bad about wearing necklaces beyond the really extreme ones), but I thought it would be fun with the dotted shirt:

And then I felt like it needed MORE, so I played around and settled on the red-painted oval wood necklace.  Nothing terribly exciting, but I wanted to wear lower shoes today (standing up 11 hours more a week is bothering me, because I am normally much more sedentary) and be pretty comfortable/somewhat casual.

So anyways.  I did end up putting on makeup, too. :)

Sweet, or Sad?

I am not in the habit of picking up toys at thrift and antique stores, as much as I love them (toys, but also thrift and antique stores) - mostly because it's a highly unwarranted expense.  I mean, I could justify a lot of purchases if I just think about the nieces and nephew - but then I remember the thing about being frugal.

However.  Mission Mart.  Orange tags half off.  I find this vintage Fisher-Price "Roly Poly Chime Ball" with a price tag of $1.99.  Sheesh.

I take it up to the counter, and the cashier goes apecrap over it.  

She: "Ohhhhhhh, I love this so much.  I had one when I was little." (She then plays around with it a bit before putting it in a bag.)
Me: "Yah, it's fun.  I like finding toys from my youth."
She: "That's why I priced it higher than I normally would've.  I do that sometimes, with toys I had when I was a kid."

I just look at her.  She priced it at $1.99.  I couldn't decide if I thought it was sweet, or a little bit sad.  I've seen these toys at antique stores for much higher than a buck (which was what it ended up costing).

Funny, the differing conceptions people have of value.  :)  Though I don't doubt whatsoever that she values this toy.

Getting Dressed: Mad Men, Conservatism

Lookin' a little conservative today.  Oh well.  (Not politically conservative.  Just, uh, fashionably conservative.  Conservatively fashionable.  ...conserving my zanier fashionable energy.)

Reminds me a lil' bit of Mad Men.  Without the restrictive undergarments.

Getting Dressed: 90's Musketeer

I don't know what musketeers look like.  I don't CARE what musketeers look like.  So WHY am I a musketeer?  Why not.  I stayed up nearly the entire night with young college students, working on plays.  I can be a non-musketeer musketeer if I want.
